From southern areas (Portland and Augusta)

Take Exit 127 into Waterville; go right at the bottom of the ramp onto Kennedy Memorial Drive (Route 137). Go through 7 stoplights (in the space of about a mile), and follow Route 137 to the left. At the first stoplight, be in the right lane, and continue straight. At the second stoplight, turn right and continue on 137. Go through the next stoplight then get into the far left lane as you go across the bridge over the Kennebec River. Turn left at the stoplight onto Benton Ave., and go past Winslow Town Office and Fire Department, and a large mill on the left. Johnny’s will be about 2 miles on the right. (Look for the large, low, slate-blue metal building with a paved parking lot.)


From northern areas (Bangor, Pittsfield)

Take Exit 132 to Fairfield; go left at the bottom of the ramp and follow routes 201 & 139 to the junction of Routes 11 & 100. Turn left and go across the bridges. Go right at the light at the top of a small hill (about ½-mile) onto Benton Avenue. Johnny’s will be 1.3 miles on the left. (Look for the large, low, slate-blue metal building with a paved parking lot.)


From northwestern areas (Skowhegan, Quebec)

Drive to Fairfield. In Fairfield, take Rt. 139 east. Proceed from Fairfield as directed in "From northern areas".


From the mid-coast area (Belfast, Camden)

Take Route 3 from Belfast, and travel 31.5 miles toward Augusta; turn right onto Routes 202 & 9; go about 7.5 miles, 202 & 9 will turn off to the right, and the road that continues straight becomes Route 137. Continue straight on 137 for about 7 miles to the second stop light (at a "T" intersection with a Cumberland Farms gas station on the left). Turn right and go across a low bridge over the Sebasticook River. Go through 1 stoplight, then shift to the right lane as you approach a second stoplight. Continue straight through the second light onto Benton Ave., and go past the Winslow Town Office and Fire Department, and a large mill on the left. Johnny’s will be about 2 miles on the right. (Look for the large, low, slate-blue metal building with a paved parking lot.)


From the West (Oakland and Belgrade Lakes)

Follow Route 137 (Kennedy Memorial Drive) into Waterville, through 7 stoplights (in the space of about a mile), and follow Route 137 to the left. At the first stoplight, be in the right lane, and continue straight. At the second stoplight, turn right and continue on 137. Go through the next stoplight then get into the far left lane as you go across the bridge over the Kennebec River. Turn left at the stoplight onto Benton Ave., and go past Winslow Town Office and Fire Department, and a large mill on the left. Johnny’s will be about 2 miles on the right. (Look for the large, low, slate-blue metal building with a paved parking lot.)


From Johnny’s Main Office in Winslow, to the Trials & Research Farm in Albion Turn left out of Johnny’s Winslow parking lot, travel about 2 miles (past a large mill and the Winslow Town Office/Fire Department on the right) to the far left lane at a traffic light. Continue straight to the 3rd traffic light just after crossing a low bridge over the Sebasticook River. Turn left onto 137 (a McDonald’s Restaurant will be on the right after you make the turn). Go through an immediate traffic light, then turn left onto Garland Road (the next left after the light). Continue on Garland Road for 5 miles, then turn right onto Albion Road. Follow this road 4½ miles, then turn left onto Foss Hill Road. Johnny’s Farm will be about ½-mile on the right. (Look for the large, one-story gray and white building.) Visitor’s guides may be found in a box mounted near the main door facing the road.

Accommodations:

There are many motels and restaurants in Waterville, 10 miles away. For those of you interested in seeing the beautiful Maine coast, Belfast is only 45 minutes, Camden is an hour, Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park are 2 1/4 hours, and Baxter State Park and Mt. Katahdin are 2 1/2 hours.


Farm Tours:

Johnny’s farm is located on Foss Hill Road in Albion, Maine, a farm community 10 miles east of Waterville, Maine. Our trial fields are open to guests for self-guided tours from July through September. The farm is open daily, Monday through Friday, from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Johnny’s provides an informational, self-guided tour packet complete with a map to help guests navigate.
