Credit & Collections Analyst
Position Summary

The Credit & Collections Analyst is focused on managing the day-to-day operations of the Credit & Collections process throughout Johnny's Selected Seeds. This position plays a key role in the overall success of the Finance team, while working in true partnership aligned with internal and /or external customers. The ideal candidate is self-driven, comfortable communicating by phone, fax and email, maintains client information, a team player, resourceful, and has a proven work history, with exceptional organizational and customer service skills. This position is full-time in our Fairfield location.

  • Perform credit checks on new customers and update credit on existing customers.
  • Initiate collection activities on past due accounts (calls, letters, and emails), and follow up on all items.
  • Assure timely and accurate invoicing.
  • Provide customer resolution on outstanding issues by phone, email, or fax.
  • Communicate and interact with internal Commercial Sales department on credit procedures.
  • Handle insufficient funds checks and credit card chargebacks in a timely manner.
  • Review sales invoices and statements for product pricing accuracy.
  • Review payments received on AR accounts for posting accuracy.
  • Respond to credit inquiries and W-9 requests.
  • Collaborate with Finance team to meet department deadlines by cross-training other positions within the department.
  • All other duties as assigned

  • AA/AS in Business, Accounting, or related field preferred.
  • Minimum 5+ years of relevant experience preferred.

Qualifications & Skills
  • 5 years of proven experience in credit and collections management.
  • Proven, verifiable record of efficient performance in an accounting environment.
  • Knowledge of general accounting principles, proficiency with an automated accounting system, and understanding of double-entry bookkeeping account practices.
  • Experience with MS Office Product Suite, with focused knowledge of Excel.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills are essential.
  • Must have strong analytical skills.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively and cooperatively, in a clear and concise manner.
  • Ability to assume responsibility and initiative in a key, demanding company position.
  • Attention to detail and proven problem resolution skills.
  • Must possess exceptional phone communication skills.
  • Willingness to accept new responsibilities and initiative, to grow the position as the company expands.

Physical Requirements
  • Must be able to move, manipulate, and operate computer equipment.
  • Ability to sit or stand for long periods of time.
  • Ability to lift and bend (up to 50 lb., occasionally).
