Sunset-colored fruits start out purple and ripen to yellow, orange, and then red.
12" tall when grown in pots, and 24-30" tall in the field. When spaced closely together, plants make a uniform and colorful hedge. 3/8" x 3/4" fruits are edible and very hot. Bred by Paul Bosland, Jaime Iglesias, and Max Gonzalez at New Mexico State Univ. from a semi-wild plant found growing in Jalisco, Mexico. Piquin-type chile, has partial resistance to tobacco etch virus and beet curly top virus. Ht. 12-30". Avg. 7,500 seeds/oz. Packet: 30 seeds.

USE: Beds, borders, edging, or containers. Fruit is edible and very hot. Dry for use in ristras.
HARVEST: Fresh - After peppers begin to ripen for different color effects. Dried - At least 90% of peppers on stem are red; orange peppers continue to ripen to red. Strip foliage; hang.
