Old variety of German origin is superior to all others in our trials.

Similar to Victoria but blooms one week earlier, is taller, and has more stems per plant. Uniform, with strong thin stems. Tolerates intense heat and humidity. Harvest fresh or dried when bottom 3-4 flowers open. Also known as mealycup sage and mealy-cup sage. Zones 8-10. Ht. 24-30". Avg. 25,000 seeds/oz. Packet: 50 seeds.

DAYS TO GERMINATION: 5-12 days at 75-78°F (24-26°C).

SOWING: Transplant (recommended): Sow 6-8 weeks before last frost. Gently press seed 1/4" deep into soil, but do not cover as light is required for germination. Bottom water or mist to avoid covering seed. Transplant into cell packs or larger containers at the second true leaf stage. Harden off and transplant outside after the last frost.
Direct seed: Sow in clumps of 3-4 seeds, 1/4" deep.

LIGHT PREFERENCE: Sun/Part Shade.

SOIL REQUIREMENTS:
Average soil.

PLANT HEIGHT: Varies.

PLANT SPACING: 12".

HARDINESS ZONES: Varies.
Gruppenblau and Victoria Blue: Perennial in Zones 8-10, but best grown as an annual.
Marble Arch Mix II: Annual.

Gruppenblau and Victoria Blue: For harvest either as a fresh or dried flower, harvest when the bottom 3-4 flowers have opened. Hang to dry.
Marble Arch Mix II: Fresh: Harvest when the bracts are fully colored.
Dried: Harvest when the colored bracts have stiffened a little. Hang to dry.

USES: Long-lasting cut flower and can also be dried. Excellent in beds, borders, containers, and planted en masse.
