Old variety of German origin is superior to all others we trialed.

Similar to Victoria but blooms one week earlier, is taller, and has more stems per plant. Uniform, with strong thin stems. Tolerates intense heat and humidity. Zones 8-10. Ht. 24-30". Avg. 25,000 seeds/oz. Packet: 50 seeds.

GERMINATION: 12-18 days at 70-78ºF (21-25.5ºC).
CULTURE: Indoors (recommended) - 6-10 weeks before last frost. Transplant out after danger of frost is past.
LIGHT/SOIL: S. coccinea and S. viridis: Full sun. S. farinacea: Full sun to partial shade. All: average soil.
SPACING: 12-18".
USE: Fresh cut or dried flower, beds, borders, containers, mass plantings.
HARVEST: S. coccinea: Fresh - when 1/3 of flowers are opened. S. farinacea: Fresh or dried - Bottom 3-4 flowers open. S. viridis: Fresh or dried - Bracts fully colored. See individual packet backs for more detailed germination requirements.
