Chickling Vetch (AC Greenfix) (OG)

Product ID: 2964G

Cover Crops/Farm Seeds > Legumes & Grasses

Amazing, leguminous green manure with the ability to fix nitrogen in 45 days; earlier than sweet clover.

In our trial fields, AC Greenfix started to develop rhizobial nodules after only 3-4 weeks, at 6" in height. Very drought tolerant, its grassy, bladed leaf rolls in on itself to conserve moisture in dry conditions. High in crude protein and digestible nutrients for cattle and sheep forage. Do not, however, feed seed as grain because it contains a neurotoxin that can cause serious illness. Sow early spring to early summer at 2-3 lb./1,000 sq.ft. (50-70 lb./acre). Let it grow at least 60 days for high nitrogen fixation. Grows to 3-4', and can withstand temperatures down to 22-26°F. Organically grown. Avg. 2,800 seeds/lb.
