Seven tines and 27" wide!
Eliot Coleman developed our original Broadfork for deep aeration of vegetable gardens. That model, which we are now calling Johnny's 520 Broadfork, has 5 tines and the distance between the furthest tines is 20", hence 520. Eliot wanted a Broadfork that would span the entire width of a 30" bed at once so we developed the 727. It has 7 tines with 27" between the furthest tines. The oiled ash handles are angled inward to give the same width for your hands as the 520. We also reduced the size of the steel in the crossbar to keep the weight the same as the 520.
