Arugula Disk

Arugula Disk

Grow container herbs easily with biodegradable seeds disks. The results are a neat, compact plant with the same flavor and appearance as conventionally grown seed.

Culture: Fill pots with soil, put the disk on top of the soil and cover with a thin layer of vermiculite or soil. Water well and place in a warm, sunny area. Water as needed.

Greens, Arugula/Roquette

CULTURE: Direct seed 1/4" deep from early spring onward in a 2-4" wide band, about 30 seeds/ft. Sow every 2-3 weeks for a continuous supply. Arugula prefers cool conditions and is hardy enough to over-winter in many locations from late summer and early fall sowings.
Harvest: For bunching, pull whole plants or cut just below the root attachment. For baby-leaf, clip leaves for cut-and-come-again. After plants flower, the leaves can still be used but taste is sharper. Flowers are also edible.
PESTS:
Flea beetles can be controlled by covering the crop with floating row covers (see index) from the day of sowing.
AVG. DIRECT SEEDING RATE:
For bunching: 500'/oz., 8,000'/lb., 3.6 lb./acre in rows 18" apart. For salad mix: 250'/oz., 4,000'/lb.
SEED SPECS:
SEEDS/OZ.: Wild: Avg. 106,000; Salad: Avg. 15,240.
PACKET:
500 seeds, sows 10'.
