Growing Information:
Tithonia (Mexican Sunflower)
Germination: 7-14 days at 70-85°F. Culture: Outdoors (recommended) - sow where plants are to bloom after danger of frost is past and soil is 70-85°F. Light aids germination. Indoors-sow 6 weeks before last frost in 2-3" containers. Transplant out after danger of frost is past. Deadhead for longer bloom. Light/Soil: Full sun; fertile loam or sandy soil with good drainage. Tolerates poor soil. Excess nitrogen results in tall plants with few flowers. Spacing: 12-24". Use: Fresh cut flower, back of beds, border, annual hedge. Harvest: Flowers 90 to 100% open with tight centers. Stand in deep, warm water several hours.
