Impatiens
GERMINATION: 3-14 days at 71-76°F (21.7-24.5ºC).
CULTURE: Indoors (recommended) - Sow 8-10 weeks before last frost. Cover seed lightly. Transplant to cell packs or individual containers when first true leaves appear. Harden off and transplant out after danger of frost is past. Outdoors - Sow seed after danger of frost is past; barely cover.
GROWING ON: After emergence, allow soil to dry slightly to encourage root penetration into soil. Avoid over watering, but do not allow to dry out.
LIGHT/SOIL: I. walleriana: Deep to partial shade in rich, moist, well-drained soil. I.hawkerii: Partial sun to deep shade in rich, moist, well drained soil.
SPACING: 8-12" apart.
USE: Beds, borders, edgings, containers, and hanging baskets.
