Beautiful purple florets and green stems are sweet and tender, and can be eaten fresh or cooked. Turns green when cooked. Plants produce over a long harvest period of 3-5 weeks. Suitable for fall crops in all areas, and fall and winter crops in mild areas. Not for summer production as the florets will be bitter in hot weather. For fall crops, seed late spring/early summer, for winter crops sow in late summer. Avg. 6,500 seeds/oz. Packet: 100 seeds.

CULTURE: Prefers a well-drained, fertile soil high in organic matter with a pH of 6.0-7.5.
Transplant (recommended): Sow in 72-cell plug flats 3–4 weeks before transplanting out. If possible keep soil temperature at 75–85°F/24–29°C until germination, then reduce air temperature to about 60°F/16°C to grow seedlings. Ensure good air circulation and light. Transplant out, spacing 24" between plants and 36" between rows.
Direct seed: Sow 3 seeds ½" deep, every 18" in rows 36" apart, thinning to 1 plant every 6–18" apart. Thin sprouting broccoli to 18" apart in the row. Note: For fall harvested crops time sowing dates so that the crop will mature in early fall when the weather is cooling. For winter crops sow in late summer. Crops maturing in warm weather will be unpleasantly bitter.

DISEASES AND PESTS:
The best insect pest control on young plants is the use of fabric row covers, which prevents the insects' access to the plants. Control flea beetles with azadirachtin or pyrethrin, cabbage worms with B.t. Prevent disease with crop rotation and good sanitation. See catalog for further information.

HARVEST:
Harvest central head when mature and hydrocool or ice as soon as possible. Harvest secondary side shoots regularly to encourage continued production.
