Project Manager

Position Summary

We are seeking a Project Manager to join our team to help oversee IT and interdepartmental projects. This valued position has overall managerial responsibility for the successful planning and completion of a set of enterprise-wide business improvement projects at Johnny's Selected Seeds. The assigned projects are chosen to improve a range of business functions such as systems, facilities, internal operations, and order fulfillment. This position offers the flexibility of a hybrid work-from-home schedule, requring just 1–2 days per week in the office.


  • Develop comprehensive project plans to meet defined business goals.
  • Engage internal functional subject matter experts and users to determine scopes and goals for each project.
  • Drive cross-functional project team execution through the project lifecycle.
  • Perform scope and price reviews to ensure complete coverage of the work based on the project charter.
  • Review and help select services, vendors, and subcontractors to support assigned projects.
  • Oversee vendor and supplier RFPs in regard to scope, pricing, and schedule.
  • Coordinate with project steering committees and project sponsors to ensure viable project resourcing plans, including appropriate staffing and budget allocations.
  • Establish project procedures for communication, decision making, and issue resolution.
  • Support the establishment of standard processes and practices for project management.
  • Track milestones and timelines across projects to create a project portfolio view of active projects and planned future projects.
  • Proactively monitor execution of tasks and deliverables in an effective manner.
  • Ensure that internal and external project resources with appropriate skill sets are deployed and engaged.
  • Escalate issues to the project sponsor when those issues cannot be resolved at the project level.
  • Facilitate resolution of team project issues, risks, and/or conflicts; take steps to proactively mitigate risks.
  • Proactively eliminate critical path roadblocks to help ensure successful delivery of the solution.
  • Deploy companywide, standards-based project management methodologies in support of projects with varying complexity, duration, and cost.
  • Regularly report out on project progress to Johnny's senior management team.


  • Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university and/or professional certification requiring formal education beyond a two-year college or university program.
  • Project management certification (PMP) or Scrum Master certification preferred.

Qualifications & Skills

  • 2+ years of experience as a project manager, with demonstrated experience bringing a variety of business projects to successful completion on time, to scope, and within budget.
  • Working knowledge of project management software and business operations software, including Microsoft Office and others.
  • Proven ability to work and build productive relationships with co-workers and vendors.
  • Strong analytical and communication skills for problem-solving.
  • Ability to communicate in a clear and concise manner, focusing on information gathering through active listening and oral communication to clarify and refine requirements.
