CULTURE: Sorrel is a hardy perennial that can also be grown as an annual. Start indoors in cell-type containers or direct seed in fertile soil in mid-spring. Space 8" apart in rows 12-18" apart. Planting in light shade and keeping the seed stalks cut increases summer quality, but good leaves will regrow in fall even if plants bolt. Harvest side leaves until plants become well established; later, can be cut completely, right above the crown. Plant spreads, can be divided. DAYS TO MATURITY: From direct seeding; subtract about 14 days if transplanting. SEED SPECS: SEEDS/OZ.: 32,000-37,000 (avg. 34,000). MINI: 0.24 gm. (avg. 200 seeds sows 16').
