Clio

Clio(F1) Italian Dandelion Seed

2634

Product ID: 2634

Tender and uniform Italian dandelion.

Clio is similar but superior to Catalogna Special. It is more upright and more uniform, and thus delivers a higher marketable yield. For cut-and-come-again harvesting use Clio, which is less prone to bolting during regrowth. Clearly the best Catalogna type. Avg. 16,275 seeds/oz. Packet: 200 seeds.

Growing Information

Chicory, Italian Dandelion

CULTURE: Start like lettuce by direct seeding or transplanting. Suitable for growing any time during the season. For full-size bunches, space 6-8" apart and clip leaves at any stage but especially when young, less than 10" tall. For salad mix, direct seed thickly (see rate below). Unharvested plants will eventually make a flower stalk with the characteristic blue chicory flowers. The flavor is bitter, with background sweetness.
DAYS TO MATURITY: From direct seeding; subtract 10-14 days if transplanting.
AVG. DIRECT SEEDING RATE: For single heads: 1 oz./1,900', 1 lb./acre at 12 seeds/ft. in rows 18" apart. For baby leaf: (harvest at 4-5 wks.) sow in 2-4" wide bands, 4 seeds/in., 20'/1M; 100'/5M; 285'/oz.; 4,600'/lb.
TRANSPLANTS: 500 plants/M (2 seeds per cell thinned to one seedling).
SEED SPECS: SEEDS/OZ: 21,000-25,000 (Avg. 23,000).
PACKET: 200 seeds sows 14' full size, and 4' baby leaf.
