'Sequin' Gomphrena—Developed by Johnny's

This is 'Sequin' gomphrena developed by Johnny's plant breeding team. It's a Gomphrena haageana with performance consistent with other well-known haageana types, such as 'Strawberry Fields' and the QIS series.

What makes it unique is its special color and the best way to show that is to take a look at a few color comparisons here in our trial. This first comparison is 'Raspberry Cream' gomphrena, which is a globosa type, but it is closest in color to 'Sequin', so I wanted to show this here. Hopefully, you can see that the color of 'Raspberry Cream' is a little bit cooler compared to 'Sequin', which is warmer and has this glowing center.

Now I'd like to show how 'Sequin' compares to the other haageana types that are available. This is 'QIS Carmine' and you can see it's a much brighter, more saturated color compared to 'Sequin'. Here is the comparison with 'Strawberry Fields', our red Gomphrena haageana.

Here's our last Gomphrena haageana comparison. This is 'QIS Orange'.

As I mentioned, 'Sequin' is a Gomphrena haageana type, so I'd just like to show you what that means in terms of plant habit. Gomphrena haageana in comparison to globosa, tend to have well-branched plants, but the individual stems have few leaves and are only lightly branched, so I'll pick a stem here and you can see what that looks like. Then here we have 'Raspberry Cream', which is a different globosa type. Here're a few bunches that illustrate the different plant habits between the two types.

I have here some fresh and dried flowers to show how the color looks when dried. Here's the fresh bunch and a small dried bunch. You can see the color holds well and is pretty consistent with the fresh flower color.

'Sequin' offers a new color in gomphrena, and we hope you'll give it a try!
