Barley
Plant barley like spring wheat; the earliest seeded crops have the best yields. Tolerant of cool spring temperatures. Barley matures earlier than spring wheat and is comparable to corn in protein content; a good choice for organic growers that find corn to be a challenging crop. Barley has hulls similar to oats; animals will like it better if ground into mash, chickens will eat it whole. Tolerates widely ranging pH from 5.0 to 8.0.
