As a dedicated partner in your growing journey, we want to address the recent changes in trade policy and assure you that we remain fully committed to supporting Canadian farmers and home gardeners. We recognize that the new tariffs introduced this spring have caused unforeseen challenges and uncertainty, and we want you to know that we’re here to help.
Over the last three months, we have shipped planting seed orders to our valued customers in Canada without any new or additional tariffs fees applied to them. Agricultural planting seed has not been subject to import tariffs, and the current 2020 USMCA Trade Agreement, which exempts agricultural seed from tariffs, is being upheld.
We continue to be engaged with our US seed trade organization and Canada Seed to work to ensure that any new tariffs are not applied to seeds. Still, we are continuously monitoring the customs activity at the border with our shipping partners and with our customers to keep an eye on how orders are moving across the border. Notably, this year, we updated our systems to include more detailed item information for Johnny’s packages shipping to Canada to ensure customs and carriers have clear and accurate information to deliver packages as quickly as possible.

- Dedicated Canada Service Team: We have an experienced service team specifically focused on Canadian growers who are available year-round and ready to answer your questions, solve problems, and ensure you get what you need.
- Quality Products Trialed for Northern Growers: As a result of our trialing and selection process, we offer an expansive portfolio of superior varieties that perform well for northern growers. We have established trial farm partners across several provinces in our seed trialing program to gather feedback on varietal performance from local growers.
- Improved Shipment Tracking Emails: We have also upgraded our ordering process and now send shipment tracking updates via email, so you can better plan and track your Johnny’s orders.
