USE: Pearl millet is a warm-season grass that is used as a forage, cover, or grain crop.
CULTURE: Pearl millet is well adapted to growing areas characterized by drought, low soil fertility, and high temperatures. It performs well in soils with high salinity or low pH, but prefers a pH of 6.0. Because of its tolerance to difficult growing conditions, it can be grown in areas where other grain crops, such as corn or wheat, would not survive.
SEEDING RATE: Sow ½-1" deep. Rates vary from 4-10 lb./acre depending on seeding method. May be planted in rows, drilled, or broadcast. If the stand is not thick, it will send tillers out and fill in the gaps.
