Nicotiana (Flowering Tobacco) - Key Growing Information

DAYS TO GERMINATION: 7-14 days at 72-78°F (22-26°C)

SOWING: Transplant (recommended) - Sow into 72-cell flats 5-6 weeks before planting out. Gently press seeds into growing media or cover lightly as light aids germination. Harden-off and transplant out after last frost. Young plants benefit from pinching out the center stem to encourage branching. Grows easily from seed and is quick to flower in the field; plants will yield multiple cuts over the season.

LIGHT PREFERENCE: Sun/Part Shade.

PLANT SPACING: 12-18".

HARDINESS ZONES: Annual.

VASE LIFE: 5-7 days.

HARVEST: When about half the flowers on the stem are open. Stems are easy to clean but can leave a sticky residue on hands and harvest tools.

SOIL REQUIREMENTS: Fertile, well drained soil.

USES: Cut flowers, cottage gardens, beds and borders.

NOTES: Plants contain nicotine.
