Purple sprouting broccoli for farm stands and CSA's.
Sprouting broccoli is a crop that has long been grown in Europe but is just gaining attention in the US. Beautiful purple florets and green stems are sweet and tender, and can be eaten fresh or cooked. The florets do turn green when cooked. Harvest when the florets are mini-sized but have not yet flowered. Plants will produce continuously over a long harvest period of 3-5 weeks. Good for bunching. Suitable for fall crops in all areas and fall and winter crops in mild areas. Not for summer production as the florets will be bitter if they mature in hot weather. For fall crops, seed late spring/early summer, for winter crops sow in late summer. Choose organic or nonorganic seeds. Organically grown. Avg. 120,000 seeds/lb. Packet: 100 seeds.
Days to Maturity or Bloom: 80-115
