'Silver Plate' Eucalyptus | Johnny's Selected Seeds
This variety is 'Silver Plate' or Eucalyptus polyanthemos.
This is a tall variety with an upright tree-like habit. The stems extend off a main trunk as you can see here.
Some of the other key features about this are the really uniform, large, semi- round leaves and the leaves sort of hang alternately off of these stems. This variety also has some distinctive redish-purple coloring on the new growth. That color tends to darken a little bit as temperatures drop.
One of the other nice features of this variety is that the stems are quite easy to clean and this variety does not have the waxy, gummy coating that some other varieties of eucalyptus do, so that makes it really pleasant to work with in that respect.
The stems while they're thin are still sturdy and have some movement to them.
