'Sunset Tropical' Double Late Flowering Tulip
A closer look at 'Sunset Tropical' tulip from Johnny's
I'm here in our double-flowering tulip trial. The variety in front of me is 'Sunset Tropical'. This is a double-flowering tulip. This is a fun variety to watch open. The buds as they first color up have kind of a darker purple coloring to them. And then as they continue to mature, they take on a brighter fuchsia tone.
As they continue to develop, the coloring at the center gets a little more of a warm, glowing, almost apricot shade to them. They're a fun one to watch. This is not the tallest variety for a double, but we do find that after pulling the stems, we do get some stem length below the soil.
It's a nice stem length for a bunch. And what it lacks in height, it does make up for in stem strength. These are really nice sturdy stems and they clean and process easily. Again this is 'Sunset Tropical', mid to later flowering double variety. Really interesting bright colors and nice sturdy stems.
