'Queen of the Night' Single Late Tulip

A closer look at 'Queen of the Night' tulip from Johnny's

We're here at the end of our tulip trial and looking at some of our later flowering varieties. This variety in front of me right here is 'Queen of the Night'.

This is a great choice for some late season drama in either your mixed bunches or a field or a garden planting. These blooms are a really dark, almost black and purple and they're a little bit smaller than some of the other varieties around me.

The blooms are about 2 to 3 inches tall and they retain kind of a nice cup shape on the bloom. So they hold that shape really nicely as they're blooming. The buds, as they're coloring up, have a little bit of dusty, dark purple on them. They provide some interest even as they're developing, which is really nice. The blooms sit on nice tall stems.

And again, this is this is 'Queen of the night', a really beautiful, interesting, dark single late flowering tulip.
